I struggled to understand the concepts on first year Chemistry, as a result my marks were very low. I needed help so that I could pass Chemistry that year. That is when I heard of Ravens Tutoring through a friend. I attended the semester test workshop, as well as the exam workshops. They provide excellent notes and exam questions which the tutors go through step by step and explain everything in detail. These workshops helped me immensely. I passed Chemistry well, increasing my marks from the beginning of the semester by 40%, which in turn helped me to get into the Golden Key International Honours Society. I highly recommend Ravens Tutoring as they completely changed my view of Chemistry as well as my marks.

Ravens Tutoring helped me a whole lot. Personally, I do not think I was going to be able to get the marks that I got if I was on my own. Attending the tutorials made some learning concepts clearer for me. Especially this year for BCM 251, I expected a mark around 60% because I did not understand most of the things that were presented in the lecture. I went to the BCM 251 tutorial and I got a 71% which was very good for me as I had aimed for such a lower mark.

I am studying MBCHB (Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery), I am in my second year currently. At University of Pretoria, you can apply for mid-year in take for Med when you are doing BSc. I was struggling with chemistry, so a friend of mine told me about Sydney. I sent him a text and we set up a meeting. This was after I got 40% for a CMY class test, I went to 1 of Sydney’s classes and the next semester test I got 85%. On my way to res after getting my marks I called him to thank him. If it were not for him, I would still be doing BSc.

I started off my studies as ones of the Biological Sciences kids. I made the best friends I ever thought I would make and something we all had in common was that we wanted to get in for Medicine. We had the opportunity to get in after 6months purely based on our marks and obviously we all took the chance. Many of us were on the look for extra classes which would provide exam questions and how to approach studying. At first, I thought if I study very hard on my own, I would not need help but after a fifty-something percent for my first MLB test I began my search for extra tutoring. I found a flyer that read “Ravens Tutoring” and I decided I would try it out. The cost was great, and the tutor was amazing, inspiring and very helpful. After the first class I walked out with some exam questions and feeling content because I knew how to approach it. The more sessions I attended the higher my marks were getting. It is amazing what a few tips and a little motivation can do. In the end I got into Medicine after 6 months and I am so thankful to Ravens Tutoring for playing a role in my achievement.

Ravens Tutoring helped the most in my first year, I was lost, had no clue of half the things that we were doing in class, granted, I had taken 2 gap years, so everything was not as fresh as those who were fresh out of high school and my mind had a bit of rust, moreover I had to start a bit late because I didn’t have books then and tests were nearing closer, so a friend who had attended the session before recommended them. I gave it a shot. And it was the best decision I ever made, because I improved in my academics and not only that, I also made friends, which is a perk because they offer interaction, to break away from the lecture set up.

This was 2016, and there was a strike midway second semester, so we were basically doing self-study, but with Ravens Tutoring, we prevailed, in my 2nd degree now, completed the previous one in record time, because of their help from 2016 ’til 2018. A plus to their work and dedication, is that they were not even as pricey as the other tutoring companies, best money I ever spent.

I would 100% recommend and refer students to give them a shot, and yes, I have, my mentor 2 years back was part of the group, and she did very well.

Ravens Tutoring was a key factor in helping me FLY at UP. This statement that you hear so often might seem annoying but after graduating, I see how important it is. Finishing your degree in the prescribed time was a huge achievement which opened many doors for me. Ravens tutoring played a huge part in my studies. Ravens tutoring helped me understand valuable concepts, they focused on small details, they helped me see what was important and what to focus on. Some advice I have for students trying to complete their degree is that there is no shame in asking for help and getting a tutor. Asking for help when you are struggling is so important, as I always say, failing to plan is planning to fail. Also, something to think about, paying for a tutor is a lot cheaper than paying for another module you must repeat. Ravens Tutoring is extremely fair when it comes to payment and is worth it.

I first heard about Ravens Tutoring when I was still a first year in 2018. My one friend told me about how effective the sessions were, especially for chemistry.I was, however, reluctant to attend a session because I was worried about spending money and possibly not seeing in progress in my modules. It was not until second semester that I decided to attend one of Sydney’s sessions for organic chemistry. I must say, it was the best decision I have ever made. There is something about those sessions with Ravens Tutoring that is just so magical. I know it sounds funny, but it is true. The tutors present the content in a way that is enjoyable and fun yet still effective. Shortly thereafter I saw a significant difference in my work ethic and my results. I started attending sessions for chemistry and biostatistics on a regular basis. It truly impacted me in a positive way and that is way I highly recommend Ravens Tutoring for any stressed out study that is in desperate need of an enthusiastic tutor that displays true passion for the subject and encourages you to be your best.

Ravens tutors is for any student who needs help with the transition from high School to university and ultimately, to improve understanding of the content and marks. My tutor explained the content with a realistic approach that allowed me to engage with the content and make it my own. I was then able to retain most of it.

I attended the tutorials after I failed my first MLB 111 test with 33%. After the lessons that were packed with study tips, practise tests and the help my tutor offered even after the arranged lessons, I got 88%. In my exam I managed to get 87%. In the end, with the help from my tutor, I got a distinction for both MLB 111 and CMY 117. These marks helped me to get into medicine in the mid-year selection.

I must admit, coming from a local government school did not prepare me enough for University life. Post matric I got admitted for BSc Human Physiology, Genetics and Psychology (University of Pretoria). Little did I know of what I was getting myself into; my brain couldn’t take the work load (Online Assignments, Tutorials, Class Tests, LAB Work, Semester tests, you name them), it all came down on me, I was not used to all these, Bunking classes in High School is what I was used to. I still remember the day the University sent me an email suggesting I should join the mentorship program. That alone was time consuming, my mentor wanted us to meet each week, which did not help with the pressure I had over my shoulders.

A friend told me about Ravens tutoring, and I went on to give it a try. I still do not regret paying for those group sessions, these guys came to my rescue. The tutoring sessions went very well. I cannot remember where I saw a poster of this Ravens Tutoring that was so affordable. I never thought I could attend any tutor sessions in my life because they are all costly. Anyways, I heard from a friend saying they really do help so I went. In my first year I struggled so much with adjusting to varsity so much that I was not academically coping, so basically, I was failing. I could not understand lecturers, the whole system was just too fast for me. I remember how my Chemistry Marks improved from a dismal fail to like a 68% for the second test after attending the session, and that was a big thing for me because I had never achieved that much the whole time even for all my other modules. I had never missed a session since then. Our tutor (Sydney) is very selfless and intentional about helping us and making sure we understand and even go beyond his set time or even add a day without paying more. I would say one thing I struggled with in my first year was to adjust to the University’s environment. Having to do everything on your own without being pushed was just a hustle. I was not used to that. I had assignments due, I had to find friends and study partners (which was not easy). I would be busy every day, but I’ll end up getting your 40’s and 50’s. All modules needed special attention, and I could not find balance at all. Until I joined Ravens Tutoring where my academics started to have direction. My marks changed from 50’s to 60’s even above, more especially in chemistry CMY 117 and Molecular biology know as MLB 111. I did well in those two modules since I was stuck with them.

Second semester came, CMY 127 was just a hard nut to crack. Fees must fall strike was at its toll. Everything went online, and we had to do everything our own. Trust me, I had nothing to worry about, Ravens tutoring was there to assist. In the mist of those hardship, I managed to pass all my modules that semester.

In my journey with Ravens tutoring, the tutors were great, treated us with respect, explained everything so well that I did not have to study it again, it would be a thing of I know it.

As I will be completing my studies this year, I am proud to say that YES indeed the Finish Line is Mine… If it were not for Ravens tutoring, I would not be here. All thanks to Ravens Tutoring.

I heard about Ravens tutoring I would say late last because I had already failed my class tests then. I am glad that I started attending because my class test Marks improved so much from 40% to 80%. We had tutorials days before the tests and during those sessions we will be given questions to work on. Those questions were there to test how well we know our work. Tutors will re-explain those concepts to us. Every time I come back from those tutorials, I would feel more confident and ready for the test.
